Shipping & DOA Policy

Last updated: 14 October 2026

This policy applies to live-coral orders placed with CoralWiz. Because corals are living animals, careful planning, suitable transport and prompt receipt are essential.

Ordering and dispatch

  • CoralWiz normally dispatches live-coral orders on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
  • For longer European routes, dispatch may be limited to Monday or Tuesday to reduce the risk of a weekend delay.
  • We agree or confirm the dispatch date before shipment.
  • We may postpone dispatch where weather, temperature, public holidays or carrier conditions create an unreasonable risk to live animals.
  • The customer must provide a complete and accurate delivery address and ensure that someone can receive the shipment promptly.
  • All live-coral orders are sent using a next-day delivery service. If next-day delivery is not available for the destination or dispatch date, we do not dispatch and will contact the customer.
  • Tracking information is provided when available. The exact delivery time window is determined by the carrier.

Shipping rates

Live-coral shipping rates are configured at checkout for all 27 EU member states:

  • Netherlands and Belgium: €29.95 including VAT; free shipping from €300.
  • Germany and France: €39.95 including VAT; free shipping from €400.
  • Austria, Spain, Italy, Ireland and Denmark: €44.95 including VAT; free shipping from €450.
  • Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Sweden: €59.95 including VAT; free shipping from €500.

All rates above include VAT. Available destinations and the final shipping charge are shown before payment. We do not ship to destinations for which no live-coral shipping method appears at checkout.

DOA: dead on arrival

For our DOA assessment, notify us within two hours of the carrier’s recorded delivery time. Email info@coralwiz.com and include:

  • Your order number.
  • Clear photographs and, where possible, video of the coral in the unopened transport bag.
  • A clear photograph of the shipping label and outer packaging.
  • A short description of the condition on arrival.

Keep the coral, water, transport bag and packaging until we have assessed the claim and provided instructions. Do not discard the animal before contacting us unless animal welfare requires immediate action.

If a DOA claim is validated, we will offer a replacement where available or—only with your agreement—store credit.

What is not automatically considered DOA?

Temporary retraction, stress mucus, reduced polyp extension, cloudy transport water or colour change caused by shipping does not by itself establish that a coral is dead. Corals may need time to recover from transport stress.

Failure to be present, an incorrect address, refusal of delivery, delayed collection from a service point or an unauthorised delivery change may affect DOA coverage where this caused or increased the damage.

After opening the bag

After the transport bag is opened, the condition of a coral can be affected by acclimation, salinity, temperature, water chemistry, lighting, flow, pests, fish and interactions with other livestock. Follow suitable acclimation and quarantine practices. We cannot guarantee later survival, growth or colour where deterioration is caused by aquarium conditions or handling outside our control.

No returns of live corals

If a coral qualifies under our DOA policy, please contact us for an appropriate solution.
